“I’m running for one reason: to make sure our kids get the best education possible — safe, strong, and competitive — no matter their zip code or their parents’ paycheck.”
My goal in running for Lee County School Board is to support our teachers and staff like our kids’ future depends on it — because it does!! Our teachers are the backbone of our schools, and we’ve been asking them to do the impossible for far too long. We’re going to make sure they have the resources they need in the classroom — from enough well-paid support staff to keep things running, to the supplies and training that make teaching possible. And yes, that means paying them a fair wage.
One of my top campaign issues is to protect every child, every day. Safety isn’t just about gates and guards. And yea that stuff is definitely important. However making sure kids have access to mental health professionals, ESE teachers, ESOL teachers, reading coaches, behavioral support, and ensuring parents don’t just have a voice, but a dialogue with our educators – THIS is what’s most important. I will work to improve communication, resources and support because no child should fall through the cracks because their needs were ignored or their parents couldn’t get a call back.
The meat and potatoes of our struggles in Lee County Schools boils down to our inability to efficiently, and transparently fund the needs of our schools. My goal once elected is to spend every dollar awarded where it matters — on our kids. Every penny in our school budget should go toward improving student outcomes, stronger community engagement, and supporting school staff. That starts with a full forensic audit to find waste and redirect funds. We already know some of the biggest problems: administrators making twice what teachers earn, outside contracts that go over budget without delivering results, and no accountability at the top. We’re going to tie results to pay for every administrative position, and push every elected board member to get trained, fight for, and win more funding for our district.
Because at the end of the day, our kids don’t get a do-over on their education. We owe them our best — and I’m ready to fight for it.
